Portrait #7 / OZ Arts / Dance Party
December 10, 2015

The week-long OZ residency ended with non other than a Dance Party, complete with giant disco ball! We asked everyone to join us on our make shift dance floor atop the giant texture stamps, not only to celebrate but to use their moves to help print the blocks! As you can see from the photos, there wasn’t a dry brow in the room! Viva La Our Town!

Portrait #6 / OZ Arts / Game Night
December 9, 2015

America’s first ever public art relay race! There were 5 rounds where 2 teams were racing against each other and the clock to complete 5 art stations: 1.) Face Arrange – putting together an our town photo portrait, to reveal a code for station 2, 2.) Double Blind Puzzle Solve – 2 teammates work together to put together a shape puzzle – BUT – the direction teammate is faced away from the puzzle solver and using a hand mirror to direct and the puzzle solver is blind folded!, 3.) Shadow Charades – one teammate acts out silent clues behind a white sheet while the other teammate guesses, 4.) Tiny Bike – Once the shadow charade is solved, the next player is handed an envelope to with a bike lock combination. They must unlock the tiny bike and ride it to the last station 5.) Balloon Pop – Once the tiny bike rider gets to their teammate waiting at the balloon pop station, they must work together, using a pole with a balloon on the end and a pole with a nail on the end – both suspended 20 feet in the air, to pop the balloon and reveal the final stamp coordinates to help finish the Our Town Portrait. These tasks were not easy, but Nashville impressed us with their skills and the portrait was completed!

Portrait #5 / OZ Arts / All Stamp Night
December 8, 2015 / Nashville, TN

The first theme night at OZ was: All Stamp, where we asked show-goers to strap on our custom made Stampshoes and join us on the canvas to create and complete our 5th Giant portrait, inspired by Nashvillian Abu Ali’s portrait that was mdd during the project. The results were magnificent!

Portrait #1 / Cumberland Riverfront Park
September 18, 2015 / Nashville, TN

We kicked off Our Town Together Heroic with an Advanced Preview of the project at the Cumberland Riverfront Park! It was a beautiful (and hot!) day! We were joined by Jonah Eller-Issaccs who acted as the announcer for the event. We even had a drone fly over to get a better aerial shot of the portrait. We learned a lot and it got us prepared for October’s two day event!
